Hoya HD Mk II IRND64 (1.8) 49mm Neutral Density Filter
The Hoya HD Mk II IRND64 (1.8) is a neutral density filter that reduces light to the equivalent of 6 stops. Featuring ACCU-ND IR-cut technology, water and oil-repellent coating, and a low-profile frame. With a density of 1.8, it divides the entering light by 64 (6 stops). Neutral density (ND) filters are the most demanded and essential type for photographers and video creators alike. For photographers, ND filters allow precise control over the amount of light passing through the lens for better creative exposure control. For video content creators, ND filters help greatly in adjusting shutter speeds to match frame rates while maintaining depth of field. Perfect for panning objects and capturing movement, this filter is ideal for motion control or blurring subjects. Without an ND filter and using standard camera settings, movement would appear fixed in the final image. A flowing effect can be achieved by closing the aperture to f/16 or f/22, but this may cause diffraction leading to poor resolution. Additionally, when shooting with fast prime lenses and cameras with a lowest ISO of 200, it might not be possible to reduce exposure enough for a shutter speed that creates the 'water flow' effect. However, using the HD Mk II IRND64 allows you to choose an appropriate f-stop to avoid diffraction while achieving the necessary shutter speed to express movement as fluid.
