Hoya HD Mk II IRND8 (0.9) 72mm Neutral Density Filter
The Hoya HD MkII IRND8 (0.9) is a neutral density filter that reduces light to the equivalent of 3 stops. Featuring ACCU-ND IR-cut technology, water-repellent and oil-repellent coating, and a low-profile frame. With a density of 0.9, it divides the amount of light entering the lens by 8 (3 stops). Neutral density filters are essential for both photographers and video creators. For photographers, ND filters offer precise control over the amount of light passing through the lens for better creative exposure control. Video creators use them to adjust shutter speeds to match frame rates while maintaining depth of field. The HD Mk II IRND8 is perfect for creating a beautiful bokeh background in typical portrait or daylight conditions easily achieved with fast f/1.2 or f/1.4 lenses at maximum aperture, but requires a high shutter speed. Cameras often come with a max shutter speed of 1/4000 sec which would cause overexposure with such fast lenses, but the photographer can still achieve proper exposure by controlling the shutter speed with the HD Mk II IRND8.
