The Hoya HD Mk II IRND8 (0.9) is a neutral density filter that reduces light to the equivalent of 3 stops. Featuring ACCU-ND IR-cut technology, water and oil repellent coatings, and a low profile frame. Density 0.9, divides the amount of light entering the lens by 8 (3 stops). Neutral density (ND) filters are the most sought-after and essential type of photographic filter for several reasons. For photographers, ND filters mean precise control over the amount of light passing through the lens for better creative exposure control. For video creators, ND filters greatly assist in adjusting shutter speeds to match frame rates while maintaining depth of field. To create a beautiful blurred background, the HD Mk II IRND8 is the perfect density for creating a beautiful blurred background in typical portrait or daylight conditions easily achieved with fast fixed-focus lenses F1.2 or F1.4 at maximum aperture, but it requires a high shutter speed.
